West Allis woman dies from COVID-19 complications

WEST ALLIS -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday, March 26 reported the death of a 57-year-old West Allis woman. The woman, identified as Sheila Staten, died at the hospital on Wednesday, March 25 from complications of COVID-19.

According to the medical examiner's report, Staten was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, March 19 with dyspnea, fever, and cough. She was diagnosed with COVID-19.

The report indicated that during treatment, she developed kidney failure, and then, multiple organ failure. A doctor stated that she had been ill for two weeks.

Staten's daughter told officials that her mother had traveled to Texas and Arkansas three weeks  ago, but had not been around anyone ill that she was aware of.
