Lauren Keene is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She is double majoring in both Journalism, Advertising and Media Studies along with Digital Arts and Culture. She’ll be graduating in December of 2019, and she looks forward to an exciting career in journalism!
Before joining the Digital Team at Fox 6, Lauren was a freelance culture contributor at various Milwaukee publications including Shepherd Express and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She’s also won numerous awards for her college work, including first-place prizes from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association and the Milwaukee Press Club.
Outside of work, she’s a huge fan of music, fashion and all things vintage! She loves thrift shopping, going to shows and watching new T.V. shows.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee firefighters responded to a fire at United Milwaukee Scrap near 35th and Townsend Sunday afternoon, July 14. According to fire officials, a fire broke out at the scrapyard, and a piece of scrap metal was burning. MFD officials said it may have started by spontaneous combustion, but could not immediately confirm that. There were no buildings in any danger. The official cause was under investigation.
CALEDONIA — A 31-year-old man is dead following a motorcycle accident in Caledonia early morning Sunday, July 14. According to police, the man was headed east on County Line Road when it appears he lost control of his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead on the scene. It is unknown whether or not the man was under the influence.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police confirmed a 3-year-old girl died following a road rage shooting Saturday, July 13 on Milwaukee’s north side — and one man was taken into custody. Police said around 8:35 a.m., two vehicles almost collided near 42nd and Concordia. MILWAUKEE — A 27-year-old woman is injured following a shooting near 41st and Eggert Friday night, July 12. According to police, the woman was shot by a known suspect. She was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police say the investigation is active, and they’re seeking the known suspect.
KENOSHA — Kenosha police were searching for a driver after a car crashed into a home early Monday, July 8. Just after 3 a.m., a silver Honda crashed into a wooden porch near 5th Avenue and 61st Street. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived, and was not located. He was described as male, black, wearing a white tank top. There was no apparent structural damage to the building; however, the vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed. […]

MILWAUKEE — Sixteen people are facing citations following a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office operation at Kosciuszko Park over the Fourth of July Weekend. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation at Kosciuszko Park to combat drinking and disorderliness over the weekend of July 5 through July 7. MILWAUKEE — A 46-year-old man was killed in a shooting near 21st and Pierce Sunday, July 7. The shooting happened just before 7:15 p.m. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were under investigation. Police were seeking the shooter(s).
