"23 animals at one time being taken into our campuses is a large amount at one time," said Stacy Oatman with the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Just days ago, those 23 cats, mostly kittens, were surrendered to the Wisconsin Humane Society, all coming from just one home.
"Many of these cats and kittens are under socialized. So, some of them will be going into foster homes while many others will stay at the shelter to recover," added Oatman.

The organization wouldn't say where the cats came from, or give specifics on the situation that led them to the humane society.
They do say law enforcement is not involved, and they expect more cats soon.
"Many times when there are this many animals, conditions can really spiral out of control," said Oatman.
The shelter says this is an example of doing what's best.
Hi!
"If you’re in a situation where you are overwhelmed with too many animals, and you are unable to care for them, it’s really important to seek out help," said Oatman.
The cats are not up for adoption yet, but they'll be joining the more than 200 available at the Wisconsin Humane Society's six campuses.
"Animals in our adoption program have as long as it takes to find a new home," said Oatman.
