Appleton company donating modular home to OK family
APPLETON (WITI) -- Some tornado victims in Oklahoma are getting a new home -- thanks to an Appleton, Wis. company.
MODS International is donating one of its unique modular homes to an Oklahoma family.
Right now, it's just a shipping container, but soon it will be fully furnished and fitted with a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
"It comes with the leather couch, comes with the table, comes with the microwave, comes with a refrigerator," Brian Fezatte with MODS International said.
"We build them out. They're built like a home -- same framing, same insulation, heating and air conditioning. Very simple, same plumbing. It's all built to code, international building codes," Doug Larson with MODS International said.
MODS International says the modular units are much more durable than mobile homes and can withstand strong winds.
Each unit costs about $40,000.
