Baldwin outraises Thompson for Senate race
MADISON (AP) -- Democrat Tammy Baldwin has raised more money than her Republican opponent Tommy Thompson in recent weeks and had more cash on hand for the final push toward Election Day.
Baldwin reported Monday, October 15th that she started October with $3.5 million, while Thompson said he had nearly $2 million.
Baldwin says she raised nearly $4.6 million over the three-month period that ended Sept. 30. Thompson says he raised $2.2 million since the Aug. 14 primary. He did not say how much he raised over the three-month reporting period.
Neither candidate's report was immediately available on the Federal Election Commission website site. Both campaigns reported some numbers from the report, but did not provide the actual paperwork they had to submit.
Polls show a tight race with three weeks to go -- with Baldwin having a slight lead in the race.
