MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Annual Celebration of Services, which is also Armed Forces Day, is an opportunity to get up-close and personal with our military.

The honor and respect are on display during the annual Milwaukee Armed Forces Day at Milwaukee's Harley Davidson Museum.

"We actually have a gallery, inside the museum, that's totally dedicated to our history, and our relationship with the military, said Brook Smith, from Harley Davidson.

On Armed Forces Day, the free show is outside. It features Humvee tours, simulation experiences, airplane components, and some casual conversation.

"It's people who are saying, `We support our military. We support our men and women who have served our country, and, for some, given the ultimate sacrifice'," said Smith.

Curtiss Peck is a member of the Milwaukee Armed Forces Committee. He explains, Armed Forces Day began in 1950, as an effort to unify the various branches of the military.

"But then, it was also an opportunity for the civilians -- the civilian population of the United States to come out, meet the military, and see the equipment that is being used by the modern military," said Peck.

Peck says this is the third year the committee has had military displays at the Harley Davidson Museum. Peck, who served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard says he enjoys witnessing all the appreciation of service men and women.

"They're very humbled by the fact that the young men and women of this country are out serving and protecting the freedom that we have," said Peck.

And we thank them all for their service.
