Milwaukee firefighter, brother charged with beating man

A firefighter with the Milwaukee Fire Department was taken into custody and is facing felony charges.

A firefighter with the Milwaukee Fire Department was taken into custody and is facing felony charges.

The MFD said on Friday, Dec. 6, that the Milwaukee Police Department informed them a firefighter was taken into custody for questioning and subsequent felony charges.

Ty Dright-Jackson

37-year-old Ty Dright-Jackson of Milwaukee is charged with first-degree reckless injury, as a party to a crime. According to a criminal complaint, prosecutors say Dright-Jackson and his brother Tramel Dright beat up a man on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Case details

The two told officers the victim entered their home uninvited near 31st and Juneau. 

According to the criminal complaint, Dright-Jackson is accused of stomping the man in the head and face at least 25 times while his brother held him down. His brother is allegedly seen on camera punching the man in the head more than a dozen times. 

Investigators say the victim appeared "lifeless" and was seen crawling back into the home.

Police say they were called to the home for a burglary. When officers arrived, he was lying on the floor in the kitchen, bloodied, while screaming and crying.

The man was later brought to the hospital.

Tramel Dright

City records show Dright-Jackson was hired by the city in 2021. The MFD noted it has opened an internal investigation.

Dright-Jackson and Dright were both given a $5,000 cash bond on Wednesday, Dec. 11. If convicted, the defendants are facing 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
