Milwaukee shooting; 4 teens wounded, 'It's time for it to stop'
Four teenagers were injured in a shooting Friday morning, May 26 near 38th and Roberts in Milwaukee. It happened shortly after midnight.
MILWAUKEE - Four teenagers were injured in a shooting Friday morning, May 26 near 38th and Roberts in Milwaukee. It happened shortly after midnight.
Police say the victims include a 16-year-old girl, an 18-year-old woman, and two 19-year-old women.
"It's just so sad with all these shootings and stuff. It's just so sad," said Charlotte, a neighbor. "Every day you hear shooting, shooting, shooting. Every day – it's time for it to stop."

City leaders say this shooting was the result of an argument.
"It escalated into something that allowed for four young people to be victims of gun violence. This is not the way of handling those types of disputes," said Ashanti Hamilton, Director of the Office of Violence Prevention.

As we head into summer, the focus now is on engaging young people. Officials came together at the kickoff of the Safer City MKE Initiative, an effort to keep kids out of trouble.

Milwaukee police data shows this year there have been at least 50 homicide. That is down 38% from this time last year. Non-fatal shootings are down 8% – at 291.
"I’m very enthused about those trends and we should continue those trends. These programs that we’re talking about they help those trends continue," said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.

It is something neighbors want to see as well.
"Come on! We’ve got to do better than this. It’s got to get better than this. It really does," Charlotte said.
