Prosecutors: Driver accused in crash that killed motorcyclist on I-94 hid in SUV amid manhunt

MILWAUKEE -- Charges were filed Friday, Aug. 30 against Tiondras Dyson, 37, a man prosecutors said was driving an SUV that struck and killed a motorcyclist on I-94 near Drexel in Oak Creek on Friday, Aug. 23.

Dyson faces one count of knowingly operating while revoked, causing the death of another.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Sarah McGraw, 54, of Kenosha died at the hospital as a result of blunt force injuries suffered in the crash.

According to a criminal complaint, McGraw's husband told investigators they were part of a group of motorcyclists headed to Egg Harbor/Door County. They met at Kwik Trip in Kenosha and began heading north toward Door County. He noted there was traffic congestion near 7 Mile Road, and noticed the maroon 2001 Ford Excursion prosecutors said Dyson was driving "lifted" as the driver attempted to maintain his lane in the construction zone. McGraw's husband said he was unable to see inside the vehicle due to heavy window tinting.

The group of four motorcyclists got in front of the SUV, as traffic continued to slow. The SUV soon struck Sarah McGraw.

The complaint said McGraw's husband ran to his wife's side, and reported he never saw anyone get out of the SUV.

A search ensued for the driver of the SUV, and the complaint said the vehicle included identifiers belonging to Dyson. As officials began removing clothing items from the rear of the vehicle, investigators saw a pair of shoes, and soon, a pair of legs. Dyson was found hiding behind a blanket and clothing -- and was arrested.

The complaint said Dyson's license was revoked in December 2011 after an OWI conviction.

He was convicted of operating after revocation in Illinois in September 2017, and in Iowa County, Wisconsin in May 2018.

The complaint noted Dyson had an open case out of Marathon County for OWI, second offense, and operating after revocation.

Dyson made his initial appearance in court Friday afternoon, Aug. 30. Cash bond was set at $10,000, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 6.

Meanwhile, Sarah McGraw's family scheduled services for Saturday, Aug. 31 in Kenosha.
