Senate candidates Tammy Baldwin, Tommy Thompson cast ballots in Madison
MILWAUKEE -- Both candidates in Wisconsin's hotly contested U.S. Senate race cast their ballots Tuesday morning, November 6th.
Democrat Tammy Baldwin voted in her hometown of Madison, and Republican Tommy Thompson also cast his vote in Madison.
The winner of this close election will replace longtime U.S. Senator Herb Kohl.
This race is bound to make history no matter the outcome. If Thompson wins, it would be the first time the GOP claimed both of Wisconsin Senate seats in about 54 years. If Baldwin is elected, she would be the first Wisconsin woman to occupy a U.S Senate seat, and the first openly gay U.S. Senator.
