Teenager charged with murder accused of sending "selfie," posing in front of victim's dead body

PENNSYLVANIA (WITI) -- A Pennsylvania teenager has been charged with murder after authorities say he took a selfie with the body of a 16-year-old boy after shooting him to death.

WPXI reports 16-year-old Maxwell Morton has been charged with criminal homicide, murder in the first degree and possession of a firearm by a minor. He's accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Ryan Mangan last Wednesday, February 4th.

The alleged selfie, showing Morton posing in front of Mangan's body was obtained by police after a woman called police saying her son had received the selfie via "Snapchat." That woman told police the messages received via Snapchat by her son read: "I told you I cleaned up the shells," and "Ryan was not the last one."

Police tell WPXI Ryan Mangan was found shot to death inside his mother's home on Wednesday night. He suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

The alleged selfie "depicted the victim sitting in a chair with a gunshot wound to the face. It also depicted a black male taking the selfie with his face facing the camera and the victim behind the actor. The photo had the name ‘Maxwell’ across the top," according to a police affidavit -- WPXI reports.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun when a search warrant was executed, and WPXI reports Maxwell Morton confessed to the crime.
