Two arrested following reports of theft in New Berlin
NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police arrested two suspects following reports of subjects entering and removing items from unlocked vehicles in the area of 13400 W. National Avenue.
According to officials, police received a call early Thursday morning, July 18th for reports of subject entering and removing items from vehicles.
When police arrived on the scene, they located the suspect vehicle on National Avenue and performed a traffic stop. During the stop, the suspects vehicle fled the scene while officers were attempting contact.
After the suspects fled the scene, officers were informed that the vehicle they were traveling in was listed as stolen.
Officers pursued the vehicle into West Allis, where the suspects crashed at the intersection of 84th and Greenfield Avenue.
Both suspects fled from the crash scene.
One suspect was later apprehended after sustaining moderate injuries and was transported to Froedtert Hospital. The second suspect was not immediately located -- but has since been taken into custody.
According to officials, police found numerous items that were taken from various vehicles located in the New Berlin area inside the suspect vehicle.
At this time, New Berlin police are still investigating multiple entries to unlocked vehicles.
