#WeAreWithYou: Racine Case HS students send powerful video 'letter' to students in Parkland, FL

RACINE -- Students at Racine Case High School came together to create a video "letter" for the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida -- where 17 people died in a school shooting.

Officials with the Racine Unified School District said the students at the school in Parkland are also the Eagles (just like the Case Eagles).

The video was put together with a banner and hundreds of letters from students at Case -- wishing the Florida students well and letting them know they are in the Racine students' thoughts.

"We felt like we should do something about it," said Kejuan Goldsmith, Case junior.

"We needed to support our fellow students," said Richard Essink, Case senior.

While many Case students took part in Wednesday's walkout, these students wanted to do more. The minute-long video, created by the school's "Video Production Club," was uploaded to YouTube, and in just days, it was viewed more than 1,000 times.

"If you don't say anything about it, it will continue to fester," said Goldsmith.

Goldsmith said the group spent days recording emotional messages, culminating in this final, touching message:

"You may feel in the dark... but you are not alone."

"It is amazing and it actually brought tears to my eyes," said Sarah Roth, Case English teacher.

Roth is also sending a banner to Stoneman Douglas students.

"The colors up here are Case's colors and then these -- the Stoneman Douglas colors," said Roth.

"We're both Eagles. We fly together," said Goldsmith. "We are not going to stand around and not do something about this because this matters to us."
