MILWAUKEE - A handful of Milwaukee Brewers icons gathered at 3rd Street Market Hall for a reunion of the 1982 American League championship team Thursday, Aug. 4.
Forty years after losing the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals, it is a moment in time that is yet to repeat itself. No Brewers team has ever been closer to winning it all.
"When we all finished that ’82 season, I thought we all believed in our hearts that we would be back again next year," said Robin Yount.

"I’m still mad 40 years later," said Bud Selig, former Brewers owner and MLB commissioner emeritus.
Yount and Selig were joined by Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers, Ted Simmons and Bob Uecker – sharing old stories and talking about the 1982 team's lasting impact.
"It contributed to the history, baseball lure in this community in a way, you guys have already all said it today, in a way that probably couldn’t happen today," Selig said.
The men credit their success, in part, to their friendship, which has lasted through the decades.

"Right now you could probably put all the guys that we had on that team on a bus right now, and drive for two hours, and we would go right back to what we were saying and doing before," said Fingers.
The Brewers' official 40th anniversary celebration will take place at Friday's home game against the Cincinnati Reds.
