UWM, Marquette University closed through Thursday at noon 'due to severe weather'

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University announced classes would be canceled and the universities would shut down beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 through noon Thursday, Jan. 31 "due to severe weather conditions in the Greater Milwaukee area."A wind chill warning was set to take effect at 6 p.m. Tuesday, running through noon Thursday.

Safety alert: UWM police investigate armed robbery at Hartford and Cramer

MILWAUKEE -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee issued a safety alert after an armed robbery recently took place at Hartford and Cramer.The alert -- issued on Sunday, Dec. 2 -- indicates the crime happened shortly before 10 p.m. The victim was approached by a gray minivan with six black males.

MIAMI — Osasumwen Osaghae drove for a layup to break a tie with 11 seconds remaining, converted the 3-point play after getting fouled and Florida International survived an attempted 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Milwaukee 86-83 on Tuesday night.Osaghae finished with 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and scored the game-winning points after FIU (3-0) called a timeout when Milwaukee tied the game 83-83 with a half-minute remaining.Vance Johnson scored on a drive for the tying bucket after DeAndre Abram rebounded an FIU miss.

UWM soccer team members welcome Hartford University School students back to class

MILWAUKEE -- Some students in Milwaukee got a special welcome back to school on Tuesday, Sept. 4.The new school year got off to a roaring start as members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee soccer teams welcomed students at Hartford University School.The UWM Panther athletes didn't have to go far, as the K-8 school is right in the middle of campus.This event will be just one of many that UWM does in collaboration with the school this semester.
