21-year-old man pronounced dead after crashing vehicle into West Bend school

WEST BEND -- A 21-year-old West Bend man died after crashing a vehicle into Good Shepherd Church and School on Saturday, Nov. 3.The West Bend Police Department were called to the scene around 12:15 p.m.West Bend police and West Bend Fire Department officials responded to the scene and found a vehicle and the school severely damaged.Authorities say the driver was found slumped over and unresponsive.

WEST BEND -- A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with a concerning post on social media regarding a gun at school in West Bend.According to police, around 6 p.m., they were notified by West Bend School District officials of the post, which indicated the man's daughter carried a "Glock 45" handgun to school every day -- posted in response to an exchange about a fight between two 15-year-old individuals that happened earlier Tuesday.The post caused school officials to become concerned for the safety of students and staff, so they reported the post to police.Police located the alleged poster, and he was interviewed.

WEST BEND -- Eight kayakers overturned in the Milwaukee River on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 2.It happened shortly after noon in the section of the Milwaukee River that runs through Riverside Park in West Bend.Police said an officer in the area was flagged down by one of the kayakers, who said at least two of them overturned, and were missing their kayaks.Responding officers learned eight adult kayakers overturned in the river.

WEST BEND -- The case filed against a Jackson man accused of leaving his gun in the restroom at a West Bend Starbucks store has been dismissed.Joseph Emery, 42, faced one misdemeanor count of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.Prosecutors say he told investigators he simply forgot the firearm, and there was no ill will in this case.According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the Starbucks store on 18th Avenue near Washington Street on April 9 for a report of a firearm found in a restroom.

WEST BEND -- West Bend police are warning of a bomb scare scam.Police said on Tuesday morning, May 22, a call came into the Dollar General store from an individual who indicated there was a bomb in the store, and demanded money be transferred via prepaid credit cards.Managers at the Dollar General realized this was a scam and called police.

WEST BEND -- A West Bend man, 73, was arrested for his eighth OWI offense after an individual called police to report a driver "drinking beer in his vehicle."According to police, the call came in around 4:45 p.m. The caller reported the man was driving away from a business on South Main Street.An officer spotted the man's vehicle headed northbound on Main Street, and the vehicle was stopped at Main and High Street.
