Downtown Milwaukee hit-and-run; father killed, driver sought
MILWAUKEE - A father of four was killed in a downtown Milwaukee hit-and-run early Sunday morning, Aug. 11.
Family identified the victim as 32-year-old Marcus Robinson. He was hit near Water and Knapp around 2:45 a.m.
"Marcus was a great person. He was a great father," said Char Harwell, who shared two daughters with Robinson. "I couldn't ask for nobody better."

Harwell said their 4-year-old girl had already shared excitement about having her parents take her to her first day of school in a few weeks. Now, memories made are all they have left.
"He can't see them graduate, see them off to prom, a wedding – nothing," Harwell said.

Police said the victim was walking in the street when a northbound vehicle hit him and fled the scene.
"When I went to check my phone, I seen all of these missed calls," said Harwell. "I knew something was wrong, and I call them back, and his sister was screaming."

Harwell said Robinson was out with his brother and nephew when all three were headed back to their cars.
"He was this close to his car, this close to making it home," she said.

Police are still looking for the driver.
"I just want them to turn themself in," said Harwell.
