Fatal Milwaukee crash involving MCTS bus; 1 dead, 9 injured
MILWAUKEE - One person is dead and several people were injured in a crash involving an MCTS bus in Milwaukee on Saturday night, April 20.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. near 35th and Wisconsin.
Timothy Moker knows the intersection well.
"Literally, if I did count the times, I would count 100 crashes on 35th and Wisconsin," Moker said.

Moker said it is a hot spot for speeding and accidents. Saturday night, he heard another one.

"That was the loudest crash I’ve heard since I’ve lived here," Moker said.
The damaged vehicle
Milwaukee police say a 29-year-old driver crashed into an MCTS Connect 1 bus near 35th and Wisconsin. A passenger in that car died. The 29-year-old driver and a 33-year-old passenger had life-threatening injuries. Seven people on the bus were hurt.
"The buses – they’re bigger. More protection. I would never in a million years would ever think the accident that happened last night or the accident that happened Friday would have happened," said Dolores Garza of Milwaukee.
The MCTS CONNECT 1 bus, with visible damage to the side
It is the second fatal crash involving an MCTS bus in just two days. Just after midnight Friday, investigators say a driver was speeding, ran through a red light and crashed into a bus at 35th and Capitol. That striking driver died – and five others were hurt.
"It concerns me often because you never know," said Sam Goodman of Milwaukee.
"That’s what it is getting to the point where you’re afraid to go anywhere," Garza said.
Police say the driver of the striking vehicle was taken into custody – and charges are pending.

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley released a statement regarding the deadly accident, saying:
"Enough is enough. Reckless driving is an epidemic. And we must keep working to end traffic violence, ensure our neighborhoods are peaceful, and save lives."
