Fatal Milwaukee hit-and-run, 2 dead

Two people died in a hit-and-run crash in Milwaukee early Sunday morning, May 5, and the suspected driver is still at large.

MILWAUKEE - Two people died in a hit-and-run crash in Milwaukee early Sunday morning, May 5.

According to Milwaukee police, at about 2:45 a.m. near 19th and Lincoln, two people, a 41-year-old and a 39-year-old, were on foot in the street near the driver's side of a parked vehicle, which was also occupied.

The parked vehicle, and the two people, were struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. Both people died.

On Monday, May 6, The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the two victims as Ausberto Pascual Gutierrez Ponce and Michael Gutierrez.

The striking vehicle fled the scene, but police did release a photo.

Vehicle wanted in connection to fatal hit-and-run

Later in the day, at about 7 p.m., police found the vehicle, consistent with the description and damage, in the area of 5th and Arthur.

Suspect vehicle from 19th and Lincoln hit-and-run

A 33-year-old was also taken into custody. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
