More pressure on Aurora over changes at Sinai Medical Center

MILWAUKEE -- There is more pressure on Aurora Health Care over potential changes at Aurora Sinai Medical Center.

Milwaukee officials tell the Milwaukee Business Journal they want answers and Aurora isn't saying much.

Milwaukee Alderman Michael Murphy met with Aurora last week, and offered to use city resources to lobby for state and federal help for hospitals like Sinai. Murphy says Aurora wasn't interested.

In fact, Aurora is saying the city needs to back off while it decides how to deal with its $20 million loss last year, and expected $30 million loss this year.

The biggest concern by many is where central city patients will go if Sinai decides to close its emergency room.

Aurora says it won't announce its plans for the next couple of months.
