Wave bounce back with 15-12 win over Syracuse

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Wave bounce back from their three loses to win in Syracuse 15-12. Marco Terminesi and Marcio Leite each score twice helping the Wave secure the victory.

The Syracuse Silver Knights took the lead as Slavisa Ubiparipovic opened the scoring with a 3-pointer. The Milwaukee Wave got on the board as Terminesi cut the Knights lead to 3-2 where the score stood at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw a lot more scoring. Cory Elenio struck with another 3-point goal for the Knights giving them a 6-4 lead. The Wave capitalized on the first powerplay of the night as Leite netted a goal. Leite scored again to give the Wave their first lead of the night going into the halftime at 9-8.

The Wave came out aggressive in the third quarter. Ian Bennett increased the lead to 11-8 for the Milwaukee Wave early in the third quarter. Then Jonathan Greenfield added a goal giving the Wave a 13-8 lead. The Knights battled back in the quarter. Andriy Budnyy cut the Wave’s lead to 13-10 followed quickly by another Knights’ goal by Elenio, who completed the hat trick for the night, bringing the Knights to within 1 at 13-12 at the end of the third quarter. Terminesi netted the only goal of the fourth quarter and his second goal of the evening which improved the lead to 15-12. The Wave’s defense, led by goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra, held the Knights scoreless in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.

The Central Division Champions Milwaukee Wave, play their final two regular season games on the road at Missouri with the next game on Friday night.  The Wave will also face Missouri in the Central Division Finals.
