Autopsy performed after body found near lakefront in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- A body was found near the lakefront in the City of Kenosha around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 11th.

The body was found by two kids near 66th and Third Avenue. Kenosha police officials were on the scene near 66th and Third Ave. investigating. They are calling it a "death investigation," and say the body was halfway between the water and the grass, wedged in between some rocks, and may have been there for some length of time.

Kenosha Police Chief John Morrissey said it's too soon to determine the cause of death. "At this point, I would just say it's a death investigation. We're not going to rule out foul play, and we're not going to rule out natural causes at this time," Morrissey said.

Thursday, April 12th, an autopsy was performed on the body, but officials still have not been able to identify the individual. Officials say the body is that of a male, approximately six feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. It is believed the individual is caucasian.

Officials say at this time, there is no evidence of foul play, but additional testing is being conducted, including toxicology testing to determine the cause of death.

Officials estimate the individual has been deceased between a month to three months.

Police say it is unclear whether the body washed up from the lake, or the person fell into the rocks. They say the body was found without clothing or identification.

Investigators are checking with local missing persons cases to see if there are any matches.
