Authorities execute search warrant at Cudahy home following shooting

(CNN) -- Authorities investigating Sunday's mass shooting at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee were executing a search warrant at a home in Cudahy Sunday evening. The home is a "short distance" from the shooting site, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the investigation said.

An FBI spokeswoman said the investigation was related to the earlier shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, and FOX6 News had learned the home being searched may have belonged to the Oak Creek gunman.

Police blocked off an area in the 3700 block of Holmes Ave. in Cudahy, between Packard and Swift. Neighbors were advised to stay inside their homes.

Just before 10:00 Sunday night, the scene had pretty much cleared, according to FOX6's Brandon Cruz who was at the scene around 6:15 when FBI armored vehicles arrived. They were later joined by Milwaukee County's Hazardous Materials Team and We Energies officials.

Some of the FBI agents on the scene were wearing full protective gear.

The alleged shooter is believed to have used a single semi-automatic handgun, the source said. A second handgun found at the scene belonged to a police officer who was critically wounded.

An FBI spokeswoman at the scene said only that agents were executing a search warrant and it was related to the Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting.

More information is expected Monday morning, August 6th during a press conference.
