Racine, Wisconsin Humane Society reach tentative agreement

RACINE -- The city of Racine and the Wisconsin Humane Society reached a tentative agreement Thursday, August 16th to provide animal control sheltering services for the city beginning in January 2013. That's only if a planned acquisition by the Wisconsin Humane Society of the assets of Countryside Humane Society is completed.

The Wisconsin Humane Society and Countryside Humane Society announced in June that they were in discussions about a possible acquisition.

The city of Racine has been exploring various sheltering alternatives for stray animals since Countryside Humane Societyy notified the City in 2010 that it did not intend to renew its sheltering contract after 2012.
