Mayor Barrett, youth tour neighborhood, highlighting positives and negatives
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett got an up close and personal look at the assets and liabilities in one Milwaukee neighborhood during a neighborhood walk Tuesday evening, September 18th.
It was all part of the Safe & Sound youth initiative. Through the PhotoVoice project, kids were asked to take pictures of areas they think have a positive or negative effect on their community.
The neighborhood walk featured four stops where kids and adults joined Safe & Sound staff in describing properties and spaces photographed by the youth and the Safe & Sound strategies to improve them.
“Milwaukee’s youth have a tremendous capacity to provide leadership in changing our City. They need to feel valued,” Barbara Notestein, executive director of Safe & Sound said.
