Officer hit head on by out-of-control driver, but survives

AUGUSTA, Wis. -- An investigation is underway to find out what caused a driver to crash into an officer's car up north.

Officer Wisniewski did everything by the book -- including parking his squad car at an angle, and checking traffic before walking back to his vehicle.

The officer was hit head on by an out-of-control driver while parked during a traffic stop. 

Somehow, Officer Wisniewski kept his composure and even checked on the condition of the other driver.

Officer Wisniewski suffered strained muscles, neck and back pain and bumps and bruises, but amazingly did not need to be hospitalized. He plans to be back at work in a few weeks.
