“The Rock” to open for skiing soon, baseball in spring

FRANKLIN — The Rock, formerly Crystal Ridge Ski Hill, has set a tentative opening date for the ski hill as Friday, December 14th.

Rock CEO and President, Mike Zimmerman said in a news release issued on Thursday, December 6th, “Our staff is now focusing on the ski and tubing hill area and will be making snow whenever possible to get ready for the season opening on the 14th”. 

Season passes and holiday ski gift packages are available by stopping in or can be acquired online.

Meanwhile, as of the end of Thursday, December 6th, all the sod will have been laid on the six baseball diamonds at The Rock. Each of the diamonds is laid out exactly like a professional baseball diamond in real-life (see photo below). In addition to the four main fields seen below, there will be two junior fields mirrored after Miller Park in Milwaukee and Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

The Rock Sports Complex, 7900 Crystal Ridge Dr. in Franklin, is a joint initiative between Zimmerman Ventures, Milwaukee County Parks and the City of Franklin to promote youth and community development through a common passion for sports and recreation at both the practice and tournament level.
