Shoppers head out to take advantage of day-after-Christmas sales

GREENDALE -- For many, the day after Christmas is a time to relax and recoup from the holiday madness, but the serious shopper knows it's the start of another round of retail deals! Southridge Mall was busy on Wednesday, December 26th with people making returns and taking advantage of the bargains.

After Christmas sales were abundant at Southridge Mall on the day after Christmas, and sale signs adorned shop windows as retailers tried to cash in on the final wave of holiday shoppers.

"We always want to sell stuff and there's still a lot of traffic. People have off this week and stuff, so we're going to have a lot of traffic. It's going to be a busy time. It's going to be fun," Sears General Manager Dan Gordon said.

This week is a bit of a winter sales trifecta. Many people don't have to work, and there are presents to be exchanged and gift cards to be cashed in.

"I'm not sick of it. I love to shop. I'm a shopper. That's what I do. Doing all kinds of shopping. We've got the kids shopping with the Christmas money," Jeffery Norwood.

Now that Christmas is over, retailers are looking to take advantage of those out shopping for themselves.

"They're not underneath the stress of trying to get a gift, so they can actually buy something for themselves too, which is nice," Gordon said.
