Two-alarm fire damages former Palms Bistro & Bar in city's Third Ward

MILWAUKEE -- Fire officials responded to the scene of a two-alarm fire at the former Palms Bistro & Bar on N. Broadway St. in the Third Ward Wednesday morning, December 26th.

Officials say the fire department received a 911 call around 8:30 a.m. When responders arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was coming from the roof of the building, and a well-developed fire was burning in the basement. 

Officials say the fire was contained to the basement, however, the first and second floors did sustain smoke damage.

No other details have been released at this time -- including the cause of the fire or if any injuries were sustained.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.
