Woman accused of ramming truck into MPD officer to be charged

MILWAUKEE -- A 31-year-old woman accused of ramming a pickup truck into a Milwaukee police cruiser is expected to be formally charged.

The incident occurred just before 7:00 p.m.

Police say officers on patrol spotted a Ford F-250 truck they believed to have been stolen earlier in the day from the city of Franklin. As the officers, in a marked squad and in uniform, followed the vehicle into an alley near 72nd & Mill Rd., the driver attempted a U-turn and rammed the squad on the driver’s side.

The suspect vehicle was equipped with a large, steel push bar mounted over the front grill.

Police say as the suspect backed up and again attempted to ram the squad on the driver’s side, the officer driving the squad fired his weapon to stop the threat.

The driver was grazed by the bullet and was being treated at the hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. She is in custody for recklessly endangering safety.

The suspect is a 31-year-old female with a criminal arrest history.

The officer is a 42-year-old male with eight years of service. He is assigned to the Neighborhood Policing Bureau.

As is standard operating procedure, the officer was placed on administrative duty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
