Packers pound the Vikings in decisive victory, 24-10

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers pounded the Minnesota Vikings in a decisive victory on Saturday, January 5th, 24-10.

"When I think about tonight's win it definitely starts and ends with our defense," said head coach Mike McCarthy. " I thought they were outstanding for four quarters and set the tempo to keep Minnesota out of the end zone."

The Vikings only scored one touchdown late in the game when backup quarterback Joe Webb hit Michael Jenkins with a 50-yard pass.

"Our defense tonight played at a championship level which you need in the playoffs," said Quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  "You need your defense playing well and forcing turnovers."

Clay Matthews helped take the ball away from the Vikings.  He sacked Webb, forced the fumble and recovered the football late in the third quarter.  Sam Shields did his part as well, recording his 4th interception this season.

The Packers defense held MVP candidate Adrian Peterson to 99 yards, that's 100 yards better than last week.

The Packers now begin preparing for the San Francisco 49ers -- a game which will be played next Saturday evening at San Francisco. It will be seen only on FOX6.
