McCarthy: I think it’s ridiculous that I have to answer the question. I would not fulfill my job if I didn’t look at the job that Dom Capers, Mike McCarthy did.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:23 pm

McCarthy: I feel very confident Dom Capers will be our defensive coordinator.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:22 pm

McCarthy: I’ve really felt Jermichael Finley was a different man from the bye week on. I feel very good about the way he finished the year.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:22 pm

McCarthy: Anytime you climb a mountain for the first time, you tap into energy. When you look back on it, you understand how tough it is to become a champion, understand responsibility of being a champion.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:20 pm

McCarthy: It isn’t very often that you come up with something new. The pistol is something new and may be coming back.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:20 pm

McCarthy: To me, football is a big cycle. Coach from year’s past told me everything is just a big circle.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:18 pm

McCarthy: Change is constant. I think everybody understands that. Around 20% of our roster tends to change every year. That’ll likely be the same this year.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:17 pm

McCarthy: The stress points on the athlete — what are they doing before training camp starts, once they are in camp.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:12 pm

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:10 pm

McCarthy: We were definitely challenged, schematically. We didn’t handle the option play very well.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:09 pm

McCarthy: I’ve done this long enough now, have a filter, will be able to make a decision without emotion.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:08 pm

McCarthy: I spent the last two days talking with every member of the team.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:07 pm

Q: Closer to being a championship team?
McCarthy: Our goal going into this season — is the ability to get the team to improve throughout the course of the year. You want to play your best football at the end of the year. We did not play our best football (Saturday night). I felt we were ready mentally.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:06 pm

McCarthy: The goal around here is not just to win 12 games. I do appreciate the support, understand the disappoint of fans.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:05 pm

McCarthy: There’s a lot to look at, as there is every single year. Particularly, leadership. Want to take the emotion out of it and evaluate.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:05 pm

McCarthy: Looking back on season, lot of adversity. Appreciated this team’s ability to respond.

Cary Docter January 15, 20134:04 pm
