Appeals court rejects Brendan Dassey's request for new trial
MANITOWOC COUNTY (WITI) -- A state appeals court has rejected Brendan Dassey's request for a new trial.
Dassey was convicted of helping kill Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County in 2005.
Dassey's uncle, Steven Avery was also convicted.
Dassey was sentenced to life with no parole for 41 years. His attorneys argued that police coerced his confession and that his trial attorneys were ineffective.
The court of appeals rejected those arguments, and Dassey's conviction stands.
