Donald Driver to be remembered for contributions off the field

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Donald Driver is one of the most revered wide receivers, having accumulated more than 9,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his career. However, his NFL legacy is about more than his contribution on the field.

Donald Driver, the Green Bay Packers’ all-time leading receiver in receptions and yards and a member of the Super Bowl XLV championship team, will formally announce his retirement on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m., at a public event in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

Driver's incredible catches and amazing touchdowns throughout his career with the Green Bay Packers have cemented him as a Packers great. However, it isn't all about football for Donald Driver.

Number 80 has lent his name, face and time to support numerous causes -- from public service announcements reminding drivers to buckle up to inspiring a room full of kids with his children's book, Driver has made it his mission to give back.

Driver even takes to the baseball diamond at his annual charity softball games.

"When people show you the love and support, you have to be willing to give it back," Driver said.

Driver is someone Pat Boelter has gotten to know over the past 10 years. She is the marketing director for Goodwill.

"He is humble and kind and gracious and is really relatable. People are naturally drawn toward him. He's really become part of the Goodwill family," Boelter said.

Fans are invited to Driver's retirement announcement. A limited number of tickets, free of charge, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the Packers’ ticket office, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1st.

Distribution will be limited to four (4) tickets per person.
