Beyond the Game: Milwaukee Brewers' Scooter Gennett
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Scooter Gennett was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 2009 first-year player draft. However, after having an All-Star season at Class AA Huntsville last year, Gennett is rated as the fifth best prospect in the organization. Not bad for a 5'10" 157 pound Floridian who was always told he was too small to make the Big Leagues.
Gennett credits his upbringing for his success. His father, a former Big League scout, was the disciplinarian. Mother -- the go-to parent when times got tough.
Gennett's dad says he is proud of his son's rise to the cusp of becoming a Major Leaguer.
