MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A West Allis police detective charged with resisting or obstructing an officer pleaded guilty on Friday, May 24th as part of a plea deal.

42-year-old Bradley Sterling of Franklin was charged for alleged sexual assault and official misconduct that occurred back on January 9th.

Officials say on January 9th, District Attorney investigators questioned Sterling about the nature of his contacts with a woman in 2012. The criminal complaint indicates the questioning took place within the context of a broader investigation into allegations against Sterling.

The criminal complaint indicates Sterling was asked whether he engaged in inappropriate sexually suggestive conversation with the woman — to which Sterling reportedly said he did not have any such interaction with the woman.

The criminal complaint in the case indicates this admission by Sterling contradicts recorded conversations between Sterling and the woman — during which Sterling made numerous sexually suggestive comments to the woman — according to the criminal complaint.

West Allis police officials say a concerning complaint came in against 14-year detective Sterling. During the investigation, Sterling allegedly met up with a woman in West Allis, while on duty. A source told FOX6 News he made sexual advances toward the woman.

An internet search shows Sterling was an honored official. In 2009, he was awarded an honor as a special investigator. In 2010, Sterling was noted as working as a school liaison officer.

The court stayed Sterling’s sentence on Friday — and placed him on probation for one year. He was also granted Huber release privileges and much complete 60 hours of community service in a domestic violence organization.
