Six people hurt in rollover crash in Racine County

RACINE (WITI) -- Six people, including four children, were hurt in a rollover crash on E. Frontage Rd. just north of County Highway C in Mount Pleasant on Friday, October 11th. The crash was first reported to the Racine County dispatch center around 6 p.m. Friday.

When deputies got on the scene, they found an SUV in the ditch laying on its roof. They saw multiple people outside of the vehicle and injured.

Investigators believe the SUV was northbound on Frontage Rd. when the rear passenger side wheel came off. That caused it to go into the ditch and hit a drainage culvert -- which caused the vehicle to roll multiple times.

The 25-year-old man driving the SUV was partially ejected. The 24-year-old front seat passenger was thrown from the vehicle as well as a one-year-old boy from the rear seat. There were also three other children all under the age of six that were in the rear seat. It appears they were not in proper safety seats for the children.

Everyone was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
