Crews work to repair water main break near 47th & Congress

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Crews responded to 47th and Congress Tuesday morning, February 11th for a water main break.

According to officials, an eight inch main carrying clean water broke. Crews on scene say the repairs could take approximately four more hours.

Crews were also called to a water main break Monday night, February 10th near 33rd and State.

Officials said water was flowing from Wisconsin to Wells Street.

The Milwaukee Sewer Department says this is the most they've seen in the last five years.

It is suggested that residents run their water for five minutes at least three times per day in an effort to keep water service lines from freezing.  The Water Utility estimates the cost to be a few cents per day to run water three times per day for five minutes each time.

No additional details have been released at this time.
