One dead following accident on Highway 83 in Waukesha Co.
WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on STH 83, just south of County Line Road, in the Town of Merton.
The pedestrian, a 42-year-old man from Waterford, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning, March 11th at Aurora Hospital in Summit.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, the Washington County Sheriff Department and the Chenequa Police Department along with Lake Country, North Lake and Stone Bank Fire Departments responded to the accident that occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m.
It has been reported that there was a car vs. deer accident in which the male operator struck a deer and pulled onto the shoulder of the road.
Police believe that the male subject that struck the deer exited his vehicle in an attempt to remove the deer from the roadway. While the male subject was in the roadway a second vehicle traveling southbound on STH 83 from County Line Road struck the man.
The man was transported by ambulance to Aurora Hospital in Summit where he was pronounced dead. The operator of the striking vehicle was a 44-year-old male from Hartford.
Hwy 83 was closed for approximately 3 hours Tuesdsay morning due to the accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department at this time.
