Ticket brokers surprised by lack of interest in Anaheim trip

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Badgers take on Baylor on Thursday, March 27th in Anaheim -- in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16. Badgers fans are excited, but that excitement isn't translating into trips to the game in Anaheim.

As the Badgers head to the Sweet 16, fans are no less excited than they were last weekend, when they packed stands at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. However, when it comes to traveling to Anaheim from Wisconsin to be a part of it all in person? Not so much.

Officials with Fox World Travel were a bit surprised interest in traveling to Anaheim seems so low.

"It's low. Lower than we would have anticipated. Actually we were gearing up our staff Sunday saying 'you better get ready to get some calls.' That didn't happen as much as we thought,"

Fox World Travel says it has had a record breaking winter when it comes to travel -- with people looking to go somewhere warm to escape the bitter cold.

Perhaps travel budgets are tighter now.

Ticket sales for the Sweet 16 are kind of so-so at Ticket King in Milwaukee.

"Geographically you're talking -- it's difficult for people to turn around like that. The game just happened Saturday and you gotta be there Thursday and if people are thinking what if they advance, that's going to be real tough for someone to do both,"

As for prices, both games in Anaheim through Ticket King will cost $750 to $850 for good seats.

Ticket King expects the 1,250 tickets that the University of Wisconsin has to sell will be snapped up, and between those tickets and alumni in the California area, the Badgers will have a good fan base show up.

Both travel agents and ticket brokers say next week this time it could be a whole different story. Both expect lots of people want to follow the Badgers to Dallas -- hoping they are in the Final Four.

Projected ticket prices for the Final Four through ticket brokers could be in the thousands of dollars.
