TOTAL LOSS: Multiple agencies battle intense blaze at Mount Pleasant home

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- South Shore Fire officials say a home in Mount Pleasant is considered a total loss after a fire broke out on Saturday evening, May 17th that drew the response of several agencies.

Firefighters were called out to a home on Mead Street around 5:30 p.m.

The first responding unit arrived on scene within about 10 minutes, and found the two-story wood frame structure with heavy smoke and fire showing.

Extensive firefighting followed, and the fire was brought under control within about an hour.

A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System request was made -- bringing additional agencies to the scene.

An Oak Creek ambulance responded to one emergency medical call while South Shore units were occupied fighting the fire.

Fire officials say the structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No one was injured.

Fire officials believe this blaze originated in the front living room.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
