ALERT: Marquette University warns students after bank robbery near campus

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Marquette University officials issued a public alert to students on Tuesday, May 27th, after a bank near the university was robbed.

The BMO Harris Bank near 21st and Wisconsin Ave. was robbed on Tuesday -- just before 5:00 p.m.

Marquette's Department of Public Safety says the bank teller, who is not affiliated with Marquette, was approached by a suspect who implied a weapon and demanded money.

The victim wasn't injured.

The suspect fled the scene south -- toward Michigan Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 45 and 50.

He is approximately six feet tall, and has blonde hair with a slight beard.

He was wearing a Woodland camouflage hunting jumpsuit, a black hat and black gloves.

Milwaukee police have only said this incident remains under investigation.
