LATEST: Woman found dead in Watertown parking lot is homicide victim
WATERTOWN (AP) — Police say the woman found dead in a parking lot in Watertown was a homicide victim.
Authorities say the body of 28-year-old Heather Stewart of Clyman was found in her vehicle Friday in the parking lot of a former grocery store. No one is in custody and police won't say how Stewart died. She was last seen on May 28 in Clyman.
Watertown Police Chief Tim Roets says the homicide was not a random act and that the general public is not at risk.
The Watertown Police Department is working in cooperation with the Dodge and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and Jefferson County District Attorney's Office. The Wisconsin Crime Laboratory assisted the scene and evidence continues to be submitted to the Madison Crime Laboratory for analysis.
