Hospitalized: Two-year-old Lomira child recovering after ingesting cocaine

VILLAGE OF LOMIRA (AP) — Authorities say a 2-year-old child is recovering at a Milwaukee hospital after ingesting a trace amount of cocaine at a Village of Lomira home.

Rescue workers were called to the home Sunday night on a report of a child not feeling well. The child was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where tests indicated the child had ingested cocaine.

Hospital officials contacted the Dodge County Sheriff's Office. The child was transferred to a Milwaukee hospital.

Sheriff Pat Ninmann says the child is doing well.

Ninmann says the parents are cooperating with the sheriff's office in trying to determine how the child came into contact with the drug. The sheriff says the parents had just moved into the apartment and are not suspected of any wrongdoing.
