Do you know where Jimmy Patterson is? Police looking to solve fatal shooting case

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are looking for a man accused of killing in broad daylight. The shooting happened in a southside neighborhood, and police suspect the person who pulled the trigger may not be that far away.

What happened off of S. 32nd Street changed at least two lives in a matter of seconds.

Crime scene pictures show a shell resting on the pavement, and since it was fired back on May 5th, Milwaukee police say they've been looking for the man who pulled the trigger -- 28-year-old Jimmy Patterson Jr.

"This incident was pretty egregious. A nice, sunny spring day -- a lot of kids, a lot of family out and about during that time. I've worked the south side for about 10 years, so I know that block. It could have been anyone's family," MPD Detective Matthew Bell said.

Court documents say the man and a friend were waiting in a car to buy $200 worth of marijuana when another car pulled up with Patterson inside.

Bell believes Patterson tried to steal the cash as part of an armed robbery that turned into a fatal shooting.

Police and crime scene photos would follow -- but Patterson managed to disappear.

Now, investigators are asking for help in catching a robber turned murderer.

"Just trying to find him and put closure to this thing," Bell said.

Police say Patterson has a lengthy criminal history that includes being a felon in possession of a firearm.

If you've seen him or have any information on the crime, you're asked to call Milwaukee police.
