Woman creates fake Facebook account, discovers niece is planning murder
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WITI/AP) — Authorities in central Alabama have arrested a 19-year-old woman they say tried to have someone she met on Facebook kill her family.
But the person she was talking to over the social media site was actually her aunt.
AL.com reports that Marissa Williams was arrested Monday and charged with solicitation of murder. She was being held in the Tuscaloosa County jail on $30,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
According to AL.com, Williams moved into her aunt's home in April, 2014. However, the relationship became strained due to Williams' habits on social media.
Williams' aunt told police that her niece would invite strange men she met online, often on Facebook, over to her house. After confronting Williams about the strange men, the girl block her aunt on Facebook.
After being blocked from seeing her niece's Facebook profile, Williams' aunt told investigators she created a new Facebook profile for a fake man she named "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" and added Williams as a friend. Williams' aunt said she did this in an effort to monitor her niece's online activity.
Williams began chatting with the fictional man, not knowing it was her aunt.
During their conversations, Williams allegedly gave "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" her phone number, address and an invitation to come over and drink. Williams also allegedly offered sex in exchange for a payment on her cell phone bill.
Days later, the conversation turned violent. Williams told "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" that her family made her angry and that she wanted him to kidnap her. Williams told "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" that if her aunt tried to stop him, that he should shoot and kill her.
The messages grew more sinister when Williams gave "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" the location of her aunt's room and began planning her death. During their conversations, Williams reportedly asked "Tre 'Topdog' Ellis" to also shoot her aunt's fiance, her cousin and the family dog.
Williams allegedly planned to pack her things in his car while he killed her family.
Her aunt contacted authorities, and Williams was arrested for the solicitation of murder and jailed on $30,000 bond.
