Katelyn Kramsky, accused in hit-and-run crash, pleads no contest

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 28-year-old Katelyn Kramsky of Milwaukee pleaded no contest to a charge of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle in court on Tuesday afternoon, June 17th. Two other charges in the case against her were dropped.

Kramsky was charged in connection with an incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a car on Brady St. on the city’s east side in November 2013.

27-year-old David Stefanik was attempting to cross the road with a group of friends when he was struck by Kramsky. Surveillance video from a nearby bar captured the incident.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer on patrol on N. Farwell Ave. noticed a car disregard a red traffic signal at Farwell and Brady Streets just after 2 a.m. The officer noticed the car had “severe damage to the vehicle’s windshield.” When the officer conducted a traffic stop, he noticed Kramsky was the driver and he “detected an odor of alcohol on her breath and saw that her eyes were watery.”

The complaint says the officer asked Kramsky what happened and she replied, “I don’t know. I hit someone on Brady Street.” When the officer asked Kramsky if she had been drinking, she replied, “Yes, I should not have been driving.”

Kramsky will be sentenced on July 31st. She faces up to 27 1/2 years in prison and $75,000 in fines.
