Sheriff's officials: Boy shot in the head in Town of Sharon in rural Walworth County

TOWN OF SHARON (WITI) -- Walworth County Sheriff's officials were on the scene of a shooting involving two juvenile males that happened in the Town of Sharon around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th.

It all started with a 911 call to police.

The shooting incident happened in a wooded area behind a home.

Sheriff's officials say one of the juveniles is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. Officials are talking with the second juvenile.

Sheriff's officials say their investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement officials say it's too early to call this incident an accident.

"We are looking into all possibilities now as the investigation continues," Walworth County Undersheriff Kurt Picknell said.

"Oh how sad! If there would be a shot, we probably wouldn't hear it," Susan Rentcsch, who lives in the Town of Sharon said.

In the Town of Sharon, you can find acres of bean plants sprawling across the rural land.

Rentcsch says because it's so rural, she never heard the gunfire, but she says she feels the impact in the area she's called home for more than two decades.

"Never in all the years I've lived here -- we've never had anything like that. That's a very rare occurrence. I've never ever heard of something like that. That's too bad," Rentcsch said.
