Imogen, Asher among most popular names of 2014, according to Nameberry

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The baby names website Nameberry has posted a list of the most popular names for boys and girls in 2014. They aren't what you might expect -- unless you're big fans of popular TV or movie names.

Imogen was listed as the most popular baby name for girls. On the boy's side, the top name was Asher. According to the website, the most steeply-rising names are Cordelia for girls and Archer for boys.

Rounding out the top five names for girls were: Charlotte, Isla, Cora and Penelope. On the boy's side, number two through five were: Declan, Atticus, Finn and Oliver.

Rather than a measure of what people named their babies in the past, like the official popularity lists from the US and other countries, the Nameberry list gauges which names parents are most interested in for babies due to be born in coming months. Plus, many names on this list are from hit TV and movie franchises: Khaleesi from Game of Thrones (18) and Elsa from Frozen (88).
