Brewers stay hot, top Mets 9-1

MILWAUKEE -- The National League Central division leading Brewers increased their cushion over their nearest pursuers to three games by beating the Mets on Thursday night, 9-1, while the Cards, Pirates, and Reds all had the evening off.

Matt Garza turned in a major bounce back outing from his 1/3 of an inning effort at Washington last weekend by going 8 innings and allowing only 2 hits and 1 run.

Milwaukee's offense received homers from Jonathan Lucroy, Khris Davis, and Ryan Braun on a 10-hit evening.

The Brewers will look for a fifth consecutive victory on Friday night against New York at Miller Park.
